II. Metal3D Conference - 2024. Budapest

Nearly 200 industry and academic professionals interested in additive manufacturing and digitalization attended the international METAL3D Conference to share their user experiences with metal 3D printing.
The sold-out event featured renowned industry experts and university lecturers who shared their knowledge, and the day concluded with an inspiring roundtable discussion.

Due to overwhelming interest, the METAL3D Conference will return this year, scheduled for June 5, 2025.

The 2nd METAL3D Additive Manufacturing and Digitalization Conference featured a wide range of professional presentations, covering everything from the fundamentals of metal 3D printing technology to real-world industrial applications. The event was opened by György Falk, industrial professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), who spoke about the market advantages of components produced with conformal cooling.
The conference’s international keynote speaker, Markus Glasser, Vice President of EOS, presented the latest advancements in metal additive manufacturing and forward-looking industrial use cases, including examples from the fields of heat exchangers, electric motors, and gas turbines.

Engineers from Knorr-Bremse demonstrated how they use the technology for the production of critical railway components, while experts from SinterAM, Econ Engineering, and Kontron explored the possibilities of support-free printing, manufacturing simulation, and software optimization.
Academic institutions—including Széchenyi István University, University of Debrecen, and University of Szeged—also provided insights into ongoing research and development directions in 3D printing, with a special focus on injection mold production, implants, and lattice structures.

The content-rich professional program concluded with a roundtable discussion, where industry stakeholders debated the future of the technology, its opportunities, and its challenges.
